Proud Placemaker: Greg Comer, Roebuck Springs

What neighborhood are you so proud of?

Roebuck Springs

Are you a native? If not, where did you relocate from?

I am a native of Birmingham, but have lived in Atlanta and Fort Valley, GA as well as Mobile, AL.

If you’re a transplant, tell us why you moved to Birmingham?

We returned to Birmingham because it is home, and we love life here.

What things attracted you to your current home/apartment and neighborhood?

We were attracted to Roebuck Springs because if it's close proximity to Downtown, the beautiful, rolling hills and large trees, it's friendly residents and the excellent value of property. Roebuck Springs boasts large lots, some up to 3 acres and an ecclectic and artsy mix of people and architecture. We were also attracted to the charm and character that you can only find in an old neighborhood.

In your opinion, what are the top benefits of Birmingham City living?

Birmingham is teeming with places to visit, things to do and interesting people to meet. There is always something new to discover, all one has to do is look.

What would you tell an outsider looking to move to this area?

I would say, that you are not an outsider and welcome to Birmingham, capital of the New South! Birmingham offers very diverse choices in neighborhoods, from million plus dollar homes to neighborhoods of former glory that are up and coming. Roebuck Springs is the perfect mix of both. Roebuck Springs might be the best kept secret in the Birmingham market. Residents enjoy a million plus dollar homes to neighborhoods of former glory that are up and coming. Roebuck Springs is the perfect mix of both. Roebuck Springs might be the best kept secret in the Birmingham market. Residents enjoy a million dollar lifestyle without the million dollar price tag.

Greg, along with his wife and son (pictured at right), live in the Roebuck Springs neighborhood. They enjoy Birmingham's culture, as well as their own neighborhood's tigh-knit community.
